Objectives

At Hanze (UAS), internationalisation is a strategic priority, coordinated by our Programme Team International Affairs, which includes two Deans and one Programme Manager, operating under the auspices of the Chairman of our Executive Board. Our international strategy is anchored in two key networks: the European University Alliance STARS EU and the East Africa Hub. Our goal is to prepare all of our students to become global citizens, capable of acting responsibly in international and intercultural professional contexts. To achieve this, all study programmes integrate global citizenship into their curricula, with clearly defined learning outcomes on how to prepare students for an international and intercultural professional practice. Student mobility is a key enabler of these learning outcomes, and Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs) are increasingly used to make mobility more inclusive, accessible, and sustainable. BIPs have grown significantly in number and impact, particularly within the STARS EU alliance, where they serve as a catalyst for deeper collaboration. They often lead to spin-offs, such as the development of joint curricula, shared learning pathways, and interdisciplinary (research) projects. Staff mobility strengthens institutional ties and supports professional development in an international context. The Erasmus+ programme directly contributes to our strategic goals by embedding internationalisation into education, enhancing cooperation with key partners, and fostering innovation in teaching and learning.
