Ultimately, what we want at Viaa University of Applied Sciences is for our students to leave the school with a degree as ‘inspired professionals’. The goal is for every student to become interculturally sensitive, and spending time abroad contributes greatly to this. That is why we are so pleased to be able to award a large number of Erasmus+ grants to students, as this makes an important contribution to their opportunities to immerse themselves in a different culture and way of education for a period of time, and thus learn about the world and themselves. We also see the Erasmus+KA131 program as an important contribution to the development of our staff, enabling them to learn from colleagues abroad and thus become stronger as teachers or researchers. When teachers themselves spend time in a different culture, they are better able to convey intercultural sensitivity to their students. By offering them grants to spend time abroad, their daily work is enhanced, they keep learning and looking beyond their own boundaries. It is wonderful to see how they are surprised by insights and new knowledge.
