Objectives

The mission of Wageningen University (WU) is ‘to explore the potential of nature to improve the quality of life’. To accomplish this mission WU aspires to be a globally leading university in the fields of agriculture, healthy food and the living environment. To be globally leading there is a strong focus on internationalisation, and this is what WU aims to strengthen by implementing this project. An important component is student exchange for which we have partnerships both within and outside of Europe. The Erasmus+ project minimises financial barriers and can convince students who otherwise would not opt for a study abroad experience or an internship abroad. Additionally, as a host institution, WU sees that receiving students from partner universities contributes to the international classroom, giving a diversified multinational and multicultural view on topics within our domain. Apart from working together with other universities, we see that collaboration with other parties, such as government, business and NGO’s is indispensable, both in the Netherlands and abroad. Internships abroad play an important role in this collaboration and with the financial support of the project many students have been able to do an internship abroad. This does not only help students in their development and study programme, but it also stimulates collaboration between WU faculty and representatives of other organisations. WU strives to strengthen staff exchange which improves cooperation and development at different levels. The Erasmus+ project helps participants in their professional and personal development by being exposed to new (teaching) methods, technologies or administrative practices and bringing them back to their home institution.
