The project “Earth Wise”, which was implemented in Willemstad, Curacao on 4-14 November 2023 aimed at raising awareness and improving the capacity of youngsters from Curacao, Holland, Spain, and Georgia to develop an environmentally conscious way of thinking and acting. The goal was to contribute to the European Green Deal from an individual perspective as active and responsible citizens. The main aim was achieved by reaching the project’s smaller objectives: (1)The project facilitated the acquisition of knowledge for project participants on the climate crisis and sustainability, including causes, consequences, impacts on a local and global level, eco-friendly living, recycling vs upcycling, carbon footprint, etc. (2) The participants learned about the European Green Deal and how reducing the carbon footprint contributes to the policy initiative and overall environmental well-being. (3)The participants gained/obtained practical skills to reduce human impact on the environment, including exploring upcycling ideas and learning how to upcycle items through a hands-on approach. (4) The project equipped participants with the knowledge to spread the information gained during the project on the subject matter. They were encouraged to promote recycling and upcycling as part of their Erasmus+ experience.
