Objectives

The project “streams” was conceived with a clear set of objectives aimed at supporting young participants from our partner organizations in their self-development and well-being by working with various non-formal education tools and methods. The key objectives of this project were as follows. 1. Bringing together youth: one of the primary objectives was to bring together 35 (5 participants by each of seven partner organizations) young participants, including those facing fewer opportunities for the youth exchange with outdoor and retreat elements. This project aimed to create a diverse and inclusive environment for young people to come together and share their experiences, expertise, and knowledge while exploring topics such as self-development, well-being, community development, and physical and mental health. 2. Experiential learning: the project “streams” sought to offer a unique learning experience, focusing on non-formal education tools and methods such as embodiment, coaching, and self-reflection techniques. By offering hands-on experience with these tools, the project aimed to give experiences and skills to the participants that could support their personal growth and well-being. 3. Enhancing soft skills: another important objective was to improve the soft skills of our young participants. The project aimed to offer tools and methods that contribute to the participants' well-being and self-development, while recognizing the challenges and multifaceted roles young people have in their lives. Effective communication, motivation, reliability, and resilience were key skills to be cultivated in our youth exchange. 4. Context-based education: a notable objective was to create a learning design that is context-based, recognizing the importance of tailoring experiences to specific needs and circumstances. This approach ensured that the skills and knowledge gained by our participants were relevant and applicable to their settings. 5. Evaluation: to assess the effectiveness of the learning experience, the project provided 35 Youthpasses and used a specifically designed questionnaire to evaluate the impact and satisfaction of everyone involved. The project “streams” was designed as a supportive, safe(r), and inclusive space in which peers with similar backgrounds were exchanging ways for learning and personal growth. The BASIC CONCEPT of our project was to create a youth outdoor retreat through which people from vulnerable backgrounds can relax, learn self-development tools, and connect with themselves and the people around them - to create a community that promotes a sense of belonging (which is an extremely important element for this target group). The project consisted of a preparatory meeting, youth exchange, and dissemination phase with the partner organizations. The program and activities were planned in the following way: we went from theory to practice and implementation; this is how we evoked a chain reaction and created an impact on multiple levels.
