What do we want to achieve by implementing the project? Scrolling through social media posts, especially images that evoke negative emotions or glorify a certain body type, have a negative impact on people. ( http://bit.ly/3TEw1N2 ) Body dysmorphia is a mental challenge in which a person spends a lot of time worrying about imperfections in their appearance. People of all ages can have body dysmorphia, but it is most common in adolescents and young adults. It affects both men and women. It is one of the strongest risk factors for an eating disorder. In addition, uncontrolled surgical procedures affect the health of young people irreversibly. ( http://bit.ly/3Tyq0l0 ). The concept of body image can be expressed in different ways among people. That is, one person's experience of negative body image may be completely different from another person's experience. In negative body image; A person determines his own worth based on what he looks like or how heavy he is. The person compares their own shape and size with others. On the other hand, body confidence has become a "critical issue" around the world, and the pressure of social media is blaming low self-esteem. Positive body messages are starting to pop up everywhere, from social media to TV commercials. Over time this deviates from their radical roots and pressures them to love themselves as they are. ( http://bit.ly/3WY4Qzr ) And most importantly, the body positivity movement typically portrays traditionally attractive white women and continues to exclude marginalised bodies. An analysis of nearly 250 body positivity posts on Instagram revealed that 67% of the posts featured white women, and that men and ethnic minority women were severely underrepresented. In the project, we want to bring people from different ethnic groups together and make them feel the awareness that there is no single perception of beauty. Our aim is to raise awareness of body positivity to the participants in the right way by making the right posts on social media in our project. We will organise local and international social media events throughout the project in order to spread the awareness we have created to other young people. As a result of our ’’In The Process of Becoming Myself’’ project, we will have the chance to spread awareness that is both emotionally and physically healthy, self-confident, loving and dominating the body. Participants will discuss these issues, do research, watch documentaries, share their own experiences, realise that every country has a unique perception of beauty and that every nation experiences this problem. They will no longer allow these situations, which are only marketing strategies, to affect them mentally, and they will create content based on what they have learned. Wanting a healthy, happy and different body will get in the way of marketing strategies. In order to reach our goal in ‘’In The Process of Becoming Myself’’ project, the progress of the participants will be followed closely with the development activities we will do at the end of each day.
