Objectives

All around the globe people were affected by climate change in one way or another. These challenges helped create a bond between young people from different cultures and backgrounds, supporting their intercultural learning experiences. Erasmus+ was an amazing tool to work with young people from different cultures, enhancing their understanding of sustainability and to fight against climate change. One of the priorities of the Erasmus+ programme is Environment and Fight Against Climate Change. This youth exchange aimed to support this priority. In addition, the project was in line with the European Youth Goals #10 Sustainable Green Europe, whose goal was to achieve a society in which all young people were environmentally active, educated, and able to make a difference in their everyday lives. The youth exchange aimed to train young people from different parts of the Caribbean and European countries to reduce plastic marine pollution through non-formal education with a focus to intercultural learning. Its objectives were: -To develop understanding and empathy of young people on marine plastic pollution. -To be aware of using single-use plastic and its effect to encourage young people to lower plastic consumption. -To develop a deeper understanding of how to protect and preserve our seas. -To increase the sense of initiative of young people to implement their ideas to reduce plastic marine pollution. -To explore our own marine environment and compare the differences and similarities with other partner countries. -To provide a safe space for young people from four different countries to explore other cultures. -To promote intercultural understanding, tolerance among people. Overall, the project sought to empower young people with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to make a positive impact on the environment and promote sustainable practices within their communities.
