Dance Your Colours: Action! was a project supporting community development and social inclusion of marginalized youngsters using movement and media production as a tool for self-expression and embracing diversity. The project built on the concept of the previous editions - DancIN! (2019), MovIN! (2021), and Dance Your Colours! (2022), expanding it by adding new elements, and bringing more diversity in the terms of the target group and actors we worked with. Our previous experience had proven the topic and format of this project to be a successful and attractive way of engaging young people and supporting their inclusion in society which was why we were excited to apply with another edition. Just like in the previous years, also for this edition we had found new ways to improve the project and make it even more fitting the needs of the target group and objectives of the Erasmus+ programme. The target group of the project were youngsters facing fewer opportunities; coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, they often face obstacles that prevent their inclusion in society and using their full potential. As a result, they have low confidence and are unsure of how they relate to society and what is (or could be) their role in it. The idea of this project was to use movement and media-production as a tool for expressing the uniqueness of each person and embracing the diversity we create when we come together. Through participation in this project, the youngsters acquired new skills, competences, and attitudes which help them to improve their self-esteem, broaden their personal and professional horizons and enhance their role in society. Building on the idea of 'Dance Your Colours!' as a metaphor for using movement and dance as a tool for expressing the unique personality of each participant, this year we decided to add an extra layer by including a media-production as another tool of self-expression and creativity. The expanded name 'Dance Your Colours: Action!' was a referral to both adding a new element of video-making as well as encouragement of participants to show up and take action both in the project and their lives. The participants' engagement and proactivity was the core pillar of this project: the young people were the creators and directly involved in the project design and organization of all its phases. The Youth Exchange was designed as a platform for youngsters to share, learn, and teach each other different dance and movement styles, while capturing and narrating the project's story through video. 50 dancers and 10 filmmakers came together to experience movement and media as a tool for creating connections, and including themselves and others. In this way, the learning process happened on two levels: first, by participating in the program and activities through which youngsters got familiar with various forms of movement, and developed new skills, and second, by living an international group and experiencing the process of building a community: from the group of strangers into a community that lived, worked, danced, and co-created together. Using the methods of experiential learning, our intention was to create a safe space where youngsters felt free in their self-expression, and were appreciated for their colours: their unique personality and the way they contribute to the world. Through the activities as well as dissemination actions, our aim was to create a measurable impact that would contribute to creating a more inclusive European society within which we do not only accept our differences but celebrate them as part of our uniqueness. The objectives of the project were following: • To gather 10 group leaders and 10 youngsters for the PV in order to design and plan the YE and dissemination activities • To gather 10 filmmakers and 50 dancers for the YE, while making sure that 80 % of the group is with fewer opportunities • To create a platform for mutual inspiration and sharing ideas about using dance, movement, and media production in order to attract young people and support their social inclusion • To support participants' personal and professional growth and future prospects by developing new competencies, skills and attitudes • To support partner organisations and local actors by expanding their network of contacts and enriching their methodology for the work with the target group • To involve local stakeholders in all countries and support their activity through a series of local actions organised by the participants • To facilitate an exchange of inspiration between the local dance communities in all partner countries through 20 local actions • To create 10 short movies with the topic of dance and body movement as a tool for embracing diversity • To collect 60 testimonials promoting the Erasmus program written by the participants and published on the online platforms
