In this project we wanted to take into consideration that the way of teaching in European school are changing, and that it needs to change even faster to cope with the modern work life and modern society. All 3 schools participating wanted to run their school in more modern way. We wanted to improve this: - 21st century skills. In line with our rapidly changing society, schools also have to change the way they think and the way the operate. We wanted to focus more on skills like creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication - the use of digital tools. This open a new world to both students and teachers. We can work in totally different ways. We wanted to learn from each other. We wanted to do this through sharing of good practise - class-management. The role of the teachers need to change from the traditional omniscient teacher, to be more like anadviser who will guide the students in their learning process. - inclusion. More and more students are not feeling well in life in general, and also more specific in school. The mental health of young people is one of the big problems to solve. We know that school is an important part of students life.
For a modern school it is important to work in new ways. OECD says it this way: “We are currently preparing students for jobs and technologies that don’t yet exist. In order to solve problems that we don’t even know are problems yet.” The 21st century skills includes critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, innovation,teamwork, digital technology and more. We wanted to focus on the school of the futire. What are the needed skills? How can schools change, so that the education takes more into consideration the world we are living in. Technology has changed the world. It has also changed the way we live. We think it should also change what is important in school. It is no longe that difficult to find information. The amount of information is a challenge these days. What do we need, what is correct and how do we use it? As human beiings we can no compete with technology. We need to focus on other skills. That was what we wanted to work on in this project. We think that a project like this takes into consideration the new and modern ways of teaching, and in that way prepare our students as good as we can for the future. In the future competencies will be the key to getting an education and a job.
