We believe that the strongest and the most efficient tool to use when addressing the topic of mental health is called “Mother Nature.” Outdoor education is a great method to educate young people. Unfortunately, not a lot of young people know about it, and they usually do not spend time exploring nature and its healing power, which applies to the topic of mental health in young people. Therefore, we were eager to create space for young people to not only get information but also experiment and experience best practices of adventure and wilderness therapy activities. We wanted to give this chance to young people to find healing power in nature and to share mindfulness practices and practical ways of how to take care of their mental health through nature. Therefore, the project aimed to -To promote mental health awareness in young people and encourage them to explore mindfulness practices and different ways of taking care of mental health through wilderness and adventure therapy; -Enhance young people to improve resilience and healthy coping skills in the face of anxiety, depression, stress, and other mental health issues; -Boost young people’s confidence, and self-esteem and build faith in themselves by involving them in outdoor educational activities implemented in nature; -Encourage and inspire young people to find inner balance and develop a strong connection with nature. Outdoor activities will serve as the frame for engaging with this aim. To achieve our aims, the project had set the following objectives: -To give young people the opportunity to experience the essential benefits of wilderness & adventure therapy; -To introduce wilderness & adventure therapy as an efficient, inclusive tool while self-care & exploring mental health; -To provide young people with both practical and theoretical knowledge and experiences on how to deal with trauma, depression, anxiety, and other mental health-related issues through nature & outdoor life; -To give chance to young people to experience thoughts and emotions that they may have been unaware of, through experiencing living outdoors and connecting with nature; -To strengthen young people to develop survival skills by offering them experimental and adventure outdoor activities; -To create space for young people to express, share, and strengthen relationships through offering group talk, storytelling, and therapy opportunities; -To build a safe space for young people to open up, reflect, and create multicultural understanding and a sense of empathy towards each other; -To help them to reduce negative thoughts and learn how to replace them with positive things; -To promote Erasmus + youth and its given opportunities; -To promote a healthy lifestyle and sports; -To promote intercultural dialogue between young people from different backgrounds.
