The objectives of our project were the following: - To foster intercultural dialogue and learning, through theatrical games and social activities. - To challenge and explore cultural preconceptions, stereotypes and cultural norms through theatrical games and conversation. - To improve English language skills. - To inspire the youths. Be it to become more engaged in society, to dream of their future, to make an extra effort in English class or something else entirely. - For the youths to have an extraordinary experience for which they will feel a sense of achievement, having been instrumental in its design and execution. - For the youths to come out on the other end of the project with memories for life, new friends and a newfound sense of autonomy. We wanted to give our respective youths a broader look on the world, through a shared experience of cultural and theatrical exchange. In the application phase of our project, our youths were excited about the prospect of gaining new, international friends. They wanted to gain knowledge about other cultures, and were equally excited to share from their own. For the Norwegian group, the aspect of travelling abroad was in and of itself exciting, made more so by the way in which they were to travel: sustainably by bus, train and ferry. For the Belgian group, who was made up of a mix og belgian students and international students with a variety of background and cultures, there was both an aspect of sharing their culture, as well as gaining a new ownership of the Belgian culture by teaching about it to their Norwegian counterparts.
