Objectives

By implementing the Erasmus+ mobility project, our university aimed to strengthen the internationalization of the academic environment, enhance the quality of education, and develop the linguistic, intercultural, and professional competences of both students and staff. The objective was to provide participants with opportunities to gain experience in a diverse, international environment, as well as to introduce best practices into the university’s teaching, research, and administrative processes. For students, our priority was to enable them to complete part of their studies or internships at partner universities and institutions across Europe. As part of this year’s project, we established a new network of cooperating foreign hospitals to which we sent our students, allowing them to gain as many practical professional skills as possible and to broaden their clinical experience. As a result, participants not only developed their language and intercultural competences but also acquired knowledge and skills essential for working in an international medical environment. For staff members, the key objective of the project was to improve the quality of teaching and overall university operations through the exchange of experience with international partners. During the project, we decided to reallocate part of the funds from teaching mobilities to training mobilities, in order to enable academic staff to participate in modern training focused on innovative teaching methods and contemporary educational formats. This decision not only increased the number of training mobilities but also had a significant impact on the quality and innovativeness of the classes conducted by returning participants. The project was implemented in line with the horizontal priorities of the Erasmus+ programme. We were ready to support participants requiring additional funding to ensure equal access to mobility opportunities. By promoting so-called “green travel,” we encouraged the choice of environmentally friendly means of transportation. At the same time, we introduced large-scale digitalization of mobility processes – 85% of mobility activities were managed through our IT systems, including the Erasmus Without Papers (EWP) framework. One of the key goals of the 2023 project was to strengthen the University’s position to the point where it would be ready to enter the European educational space as a leading medical university within the European Universities network. In 2024, this goal was achieved, and the University joined the initiative as the only Polish medical university. The project was completed successfully, exceeding the planned quantitative mobility targets and bringing measurable qualitative benefits for the entire academic community.
