Objectives

The implementation of Erasmus+ projects at the Academy of Fine Arts constitutes the foundation of the Academy's internationalization process, while simultaneously strengthening its position at both the European and global levels. The project aimed to significantly increase the number of community members participating in international initiatives, thereby enhancing their teaching, professional, and social competences. As project results indicate, the Beneficiary not only maintained but also exceeded the planned quantitative indicators regarding student and staff mobility, while optimally utilizing the allocated budget. Other project objectives included: - expanding the educational offer, including courses conducted in English, with the inclusion of open/guest studios; - implementing good practices and improving the quality of education; - strengthening the support system for mobility participants, particularly those with fewer opportunities, through the development of project management tools and communication channels; - consolidating and verifying international partnerships by selecting institutions with the greatest potential for building long-term, strategic relationships, including beyond mobility activities; - enhancing the integration and inclusion of international participants in university life through various initiatives, events, and support mechanisms; - promoting Polish cultural heritage and language among program participants, including language courses and events presenting history, culture, and the achievements of Polish artists and designers. Regarding Academy's staff, the objectives of ASP in Gdańsk within this project were also: - increasing staff activity and openness to participating in diverse international projects, including those outside the Erasmus+ program; - developing teaching offerings and professional competences through inspiration and good practices observed in partner institutions; - strengthening staff satisfaction, innovation, and creativity, contributing to the positioning of ASP in Gdańsk as an important center for artistic and design education internationally. Another project objective was the promotion of short-term mobility among students, which generally represents a more accessible form of the Erasmus+ program for many participants. As a result of the university’s actions, the number of short-term mobilities in the SMS category exceeded the number of long-term mobilities for the first time, contributing to an overall increase in the number of people benefiting from the project. Equally importantly, the project enabled the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk to expand its network of international partnerships with new institutions characterized by high organizational and substantive potential, enabling the joint development of projects beyond mobility activities. The project thus created opportunities to establish relationships and define areas forming the basis for other activities, such as artistic residencies, exhibitions of student and staff work from partner institutions, and scientific conferences. It should be emphasized that the strengthened international dimension was achieved through diverse mobility destinations, including both EU and non-EU countries, broadening the cultural and professional experiences of the academic community. As part of ecological transformation, the university promoted sustainable transport methods, while digital transformation activities included the development of participants’ digital competences, the use of virtual collaboration tools, and the digitalization of mobility management. The project also aimed to encourage participation in democratic life, promote shared values, and foster civic engagement through integration initiatives for incoming and outgoing participants. All of the above project objectives are strategic for the further development of the university, supporting areas such as preparing students for professional life, deepening relations with the international environment, and involving external experts in the university’s educational processes. Through the implementation of Erasmus+ projects, the Academy aims to strengthen its image as a modern, collaborative institution ready to respond to the challenges of the global art and design market.
