Objectives

Gdańsk University of Technology has been participating in the Erasmus programme since 1998. From the very beginning, the main goal of the university's involvement in international mobility projects has been to develop its internationalisation. Internationalisation is one of the academic values identified by the university as key in its Strategy for 2020-2030. The university is aware that it is currently impossible to conduct high-quality research and teaching activities without close cooperation with the international community. By implementing this project, the university aimed to further increase its internationalisation by continuing its cooperation with European partners. The main activities in this area were to be student and staff exchanges. The university wanted to enable its students to gain international experience by completing part of their studies or internships at foreign institutions. The possibility of participating in short-term trips was also intensively promoted, which enabled students who would otherwise not be able to go on exchange to participate in mobility. At the same time, in order to promote internationalisation ‘at home’, the university attached great importance to welcoming students from partner universities to its campus. In order to improve the quality of its teaching services, the university encouraged its staff to go on training courses and to conduct teaching activities, and invited guests from abroad to Gdańsk.
