The main aim of the implementation of this higher education student and staff mobility project within the Erasmus+ academic exchange with third countries not associated to the programme was continuation of activities to stimulate and support academic educational exchange and intensification of cooperation within already proven partnerships, especially within the European University - Transform4Europe consortium. The aim of these activities was to further increase the level of internationalisation of the University of Silesia in Katowice, with regard to both the educational and research aspects of the activities of the university. The expected direct impact of the project, as in case of previous projects of this type was the increase in the number of students of the University of Silesia in Katowice completing part of their studies or doing a traineeship abroad at partner universities or other institutions (what concerns traineeship mobilities) and the number of foreign students completing part of their studies at the University of Silesia in Katowice within the international educational exchange. The aim was also to at least maintain a high level of learning and training exchange of the employees. Expected results also included: - Intensification of the exchange of good practices, - Improvement of the didactic offer of the university, - Development of the European campus created thanks to the European University within the Transform4Europe consortium under the leadership of the consortium and project leader – Universität des Saarlandes and in collaboration with eight universities: Universidad de Alicante, Eesti Kunstiakadeemia, Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Univerza na Primorskem, Université Jean Monnet Saint-Étienne, Софийски Университет ‘Св. Климент Охридски’, Università degli Studi di Trieste, Vytauto Didžiojo Universitetas and with an associated partner of the consortium: Маріупольський Державний Університет. The impact of the participation of the university in successive higher education student and staff mobility projects under the Erasmus and Erasmus+ programmes is clearly direct, and the results of these projects are cumulative in subsequent years. Outgoing and incoming mobilities under these projects constitute the main part of the educational exchange of students and staff. Their implementation is therefore crucial for the effective achievement of the objectives of the University of Silesia's development strategy. In the case of the scientific and research sphere of activity of the University of Silesia in Katowice, the expected impact was mainly of an indirect nature, resulting from the increased presence of foreign students and employees, the development of a network of international links and the intensification of international cooperation. Nevertheless, the expected direct impact, related to the possibility for employees of the University of Silesia in Katowice to receive training abroad, was also important. Training in key linguistic, teaching and digital competences was assumed to be of particular importance, but the expected positive impact of the project implementation and individual training in the field of science and research was also taken into account, particularly with regard to activities combining aspects of teaching, education and research. It was also assumed to implement a maximum number of mobilities as part of the project, while respecting formal requirements and quality criteria. At the same time, it was assumed that further efforts would be made to achieve full participation of all potential participants and individual beneficiaries in the project. Participation in international educational exchange within the Erasmus+ programme was determined solely by meeting formal, linguistic (taking into account the type of mobility, the project also assumed improvement of language competences of individual participants) and contentrelated requirements. The University of Silesia's goal is to ensure the permanent absence of any factors preventing or hindering the participation in the Erasmus+ programme for its potential individual beneficiaries, both with regard to outgoing and incoming mobility. Particular importance in the project was therefore devoted to the implementation of training mobility and the promotion of short-term mixed mobility of students and doctoral students (in the case of doctoral students with the possible inclusion of short-term purely physical mobility) and the intensification of virtual activities. As in the case of the implementation of previous projects, the university offered the greatest possible support to both outgoing and incoming individual mobility participants with special health needs or otherwise limited access to participation in the exchange. Achieving the increase in the number of individual mobilities, including short-term mobilities and exchange within Transform4Europe European University consortium, was of the special importance.
