Countries: PL · Grant: €25,250

Objectives

The project was carried out within the framework of the awarded accreditation and resulted from a grassroots initiative of young people from Poland, Ukraine and Turkey. The youth, wanting to focus on issues related to ecology and equality and human rights, gave the project the working title “Ecology and equality - let's do it together!”. The project aimed to raise competencies related to ecology, environmental sustainability, human rights and social equality among the participants. It was also intended that by focusing on workshops related to the main theme, young people would be able to strengthen their linguistic, intercultural, social competencies. From the point of view of the partner organizations, the project enabled us to establish cooperation with new organizations and create a tripartite partnership. A total of 32 participants took part in the activity, including 9 from Turkey, 16 from Ukraine and 7 from Poland. Each group included adult leaders. The groups formed through social media contact, so this division of participants from each country came about naturally. In addition, the young people from Poland and Turkey jointly determined that participation in the activity was particularly important for people from Ukraine who were experiencing armed conflict, and they wanted as many people from Ukraine as possible to have the opportunity to participate in the mobility. The project also aimed to strengthen a sense of European belonging among participants and partner organizations, focusing on common values. The main themes were developed by the young people. It noted that the transformations taking place in the modern world make it necessary to revisit concepts such as equality and ecology. Equality can refer to many aspects of everyday life, including social, economic, moral or equality before the law, among others. However, there are times when equality is shaken or shattered due to various external factors. Ecology, as a science that studies, among other things, the interactions between organisms and the environment, makes it possible to structure the relationships in the human and natural worlds. Nevertheless, these structures are also shaken if a new, unpredictable situation arises. Russia's invasion of Ukraine has led to the disruption of equality and the right to a dignified life of the people living there, the degradation of the land and the penetration of harmful substances into its depths. Although hostilities are taking place in a specific area, modern Europeans are aware that this is not a problem of one country, but of all of us. The participants carried out workshops on the aforementioned topics in an international environment. The language of mobility was English. As a result, participants became more aware of European values, increased environmental and human rights knowledge, interpersonal, cultural, linguistic, social competencies. Partner organizations established new collaborations, learned to better respond to the needs of foreign partners, learned about good practices related to ecology and human rights presented in Turkey, Poland, Ukraine. The goals achieved are compatible with the Internationalization Strategy of the Center of Local Initiatives.
