The Silesian Provincial Headquarters of the Voluntary Labor Corps (ŚWK OHP) is a public entity focused on supporting youth aged 15 to 25 from the Silesian Voivodeship, particularly those facing difficult family, social, or educational situations. Its mission is to equalize opportunities for these young people and assist them in their education, vocational qualifications, social activation, and job market entry. The main objectives of ŚWK OHP include: Activating youth at risk of exclusion through general and vocational education, along with educational and preventive support. Facilitating the acquisition of vocational qualifications and integrating education with practical training tailored to individual needs. Offering job placement services, career counseling, courses, training, and wage reimbursement for employers hiring young workers. Organizing round-the-clock care in training and educational centers, providing accommodation, meals, and educational support. Fostering the development of social, emotional, ecological, and civic competencies through tourism and cultural activities. Promoting international cooperation and youth exchange, serving as a platform for sharing experiences and best practices with foreign partners. A crucial role in achieving the mission of ŚWK OHP is played by the staff—educators, teachers, and instructors who engage in individual and group activities, support youth in overcoming challenges, diagnose their needs, and motivate them towards self-development. Their dedication helps many participants, despite difficult circumstances, find their educational and professional paths. Educators often take on mentoring roles, guiding young people in their life decisions, which can be pivotal for their development. ŚWK OHP targets youth with limited prospects—those who prematurely end their vocational education, often living in challenging conditions and coming from orphanages or dysfunctional backgrounds. The assistance provided by OHP offers many their first real chance for change—achieving a profession, life stability, and long-term career prospects. Participation in international projects like Erasmus+ is seen as a distinction for the most active and engaged participants, recognizing their attitude, perseverance, and personal growth. For many, this serves as motivation for further action and confirmation that their efforts are acknowledged and supported by the institution.
