Objectives

The "Safe in Europe" project was initiated by young people from Poland and Romania, who recognized the urgent need to engage in dialogue about human trafficking and methods to counteract this phenomenon. The main goal of the project was to raise awareness of the dangers associated with human trafficking and to develop informational activities that would help young people avoid risks by showing them where to seek help. As part of the project, we aimed to achieve the following objectives: - Raising awareness about human trafficking. - Increasing participants' knowledge about the mechanisms of human trafficking and ways to protect themselves from this phenomenon. - Enhancing intercultural, interpersonal, and key competences (such as empathy, communication, and understanding of attitudes). - Strengthening participants' self-esteem. - Improving social and language skills, especially in using English in an international environment. - Enhancing digital competences and increasing the ability to use modern forms of online communication. - Establishing international friendships and connections, getting to know interesting people, learning to cooperate in an international group, and exchanging experiences. - Shaping attitudes of openness and acceptance towards people from different cultures, broadening participants' horizons. - Strengthening the sense of European citizenship, fostering attitudes of openness and tolerance. - Learning about the culture, traditions, customs, and lifestyles of the participating countries. - Identifying common values among young people living in culturally different countries. - Discovering alternative ways to spend free time. - Motivating participants to further develop themselves and take advantage of extracurricular educational opportunities. - Creating educational materials – developing an informational video, a guide on human trafficking, methods of protection against this threat, and presentations. The project aimed not only to increase awareness of the dangers related to human trafficking but also to support young people in taking social action and providing them with opportunities for growth in an international environment. As part of the mobility activities, topics such as human rights, refugees, and social equality were also planned to be addressed. This would help participants become more open to others and develop into more conscious and engaged young Europeans. Additionally, the Local Initiatives Center Foundation and the CPDIS Association sought to gain more knowledge about alternative forms of education and acquire skills in implementing youth-focused projects. Furthermore, organizations aimed to expand their expertise on the core topic of mobility—human trafficking—in order to respond more effectively to the needs of young people in the future. They also wanted to learn or develop their skills in working with international partners, which would enable them to further develop international cooperations, share their knowledge with other organizations working for youth, and promote openness to other cultures and countries within their local communities.
