Objectives

The project was initiated by a group of young students passionate about cooking, who see it as more than just a meal to nourish our bodies (Andrii, Małgorzata, Maja, Michał, Marcela, Adrianna). Three members of the group have experience in youth exchanges, where they honed their skills in creating workshops, group work, and teaching, leading to significant development and a desire for further work. Additionally, two members have repeatedly participated in meetings and workshops on intercultural cooking as both participants and organizers. The Eastern Theatre Foundation was established in the fall of 2021 and is run by Łukasz Wójtowicz, who is involved in organizing various festivals, theatrical projects, and international youth exchanges across Poland. The support of an experienced organizer of artistic projects, particularly international ones, allowed the young initiators to create a well-developed exchange plan, where ambitious ideas have a real impact on the project. During the project, special emphasis was placed on examining important contemporary problems through the lens of food-related issues. These included problems of hunger and climate change, globalization, cultural integration, different diets, and diseases related to special diets such as celiac disease and diabetes. Important issues that we planned to implement and that were raised during the exchange include: - globalization and the economic problems it creates - veganism and vegetarianism as lifestyles aimed at caring for the environment - the importance of nutrition in shaping local identities, as well as a platform for intercultural communication - the role of ethnic minorities in the culture of multicultural societies - significantly building social awareness of the needs of people excluded due to dietary restrictions.
