The project "Music Against Hate Speech" was implemented in response to the growing problem of hate speech, which affects interpersonal relations both online and in the broader social reality. The idea for the project emerged from discussions held within international youth groups on the Zoom platform. During these conversations, participants analyzed the destructive impact of hate speech, particularly in the context of local communities where ethnic and racial minorities are often unfairly perceived. The main objective of the project was to develop universal methods and techniques to counter hate speech while promoting attitudes based on social solidarity, respect for diversity, and tolerance. An essential premise of the project was to educate and engage young people from various European countries—Poland, Latvia, and Ukraine. Using music as a universal language of communication, the participants aimed to reach a broad audience, including haters, and convey positive values. The participants, many of whom were actively involved in music clubs, were tasked with creating songs and music videos addressing the themes of hate speech. This process was designed not only to develop their artistic talents but also to help them overcome barriers in public speaking and social interactions. The project also had an integrative dimension—blind and visually impaired young people participated in collaboration with partner organizations experienced in working with individuals with disabilities. This aspect increased social awareness and promoted social inclusion. Another goal of the project was to foster intercultural dialogue, strengthen civic competencies, and counter stereotypes. The exchange concluded with a concert and a debate with experts on combating troll farms and online disinformation. This project served not only as a tool for developing the skills of young participants but also as a platform for creating lasting international partnerships. We believe that, through music, participants broke down social barriers and inspired their communities to actively fight against hate speech. The youth exchange project fully and consciously aligned with the objectives of the Erasmus+ program. Its implementation creatively promoted civic engagement, youth involvement, and teamwork within an international framework, all in accordance with the principles of non-formal education.
