Objectives

Through the implementation of the project "Peace of mind - we take care of mental health" we wanted to raise awareness about mental health prevention, strengthen good practices in self-care, and increase participants' self-awareness. The exchange project not only aimed to provide young people with knowledge about mental health but also to instill in them many good practices. Additionally, an important goal was to increase the sensitivity and empathy of young people towards such a delicate and crucial topic as mental health. Awareness of risks and the acquisition of practical skills for coping with stress, relaxation, and self-acceptance were intended to have a positive impact on their future lives and health, as well as on those around them. Simultaneously, the project aimed to give participants a better chance to identify individuals who may need help or support. The aim of the project was also to improve language, social, intercultural competences of participants. The international youth exchange was also intended to: increase motivation for a healthy lifestyle and mental health care, acquire skills of working in an international team, develop or strengthen self-confidence and stress coping skills, establish international contacts and friendships, enhance prospects for further development and self-improvement, promote Polish-Lithuanian integration, and reinforce attitudes of tolerance and openness towards others. Moreover, the project aimed to strengthen partnership cooperation with the Lithuanian organization Tavo Europa, strengthen partners’ organizational competences in the field of hosting and sending participants, improvement staff’s competences in the field of European projects implementation. The project was initiated by young people who signaled a greater need for discussing mental health due to recent events worldwide. They saw the exchange project as an opportunity for self-development, gaining new knowledge about mental health, and engaging in international dialogue on the topic. We wanted to implement this project because we appreciate the youth's involvement in this socially significant topic.
