Objectives

The Roots of Change project was implemented with the goal of addressing the pressing need for a practical, impactful approach to educating youth about ecology and sustainability. The topic of ecology was selected as the project’s core due to a shared conviction that empowering young people to take sustainable actions is essential for fostering an environmentally aware society and improving life on Earth for everyone. Research into the needs of young people revealed that while they recognize the importance of ecological and sustainability issues, they often lack a practical perspective and are unsure of how they, as individuals, can contribute to environmental protection. This project aimed to bridge that gap by providing inspiration, hands-on practice, and opportunities to exchange experiences, empowering youth to act as agents of change within their communities. Objectives of the project: Over the course of nine months, Roots of Change set out to achieve the following: -Participants will gain knowledge in various aspects of ecology, including recycling, food waste prevention, circular economy, climate change, renewable energy, and more. -By taking part in the activities of the youth exchange, participants will increase their ecological awareness, strengthen their belief in the importance of their individual contribution to the environment, and acquire skills to conduct pro-ecological workshops using non-formal education methods. -Participants will adopt at least five new pro-ecological habits, which they will gradually incorporate into their daily routines. By achieving these objectives, the project sought to inspire participants to take accountability for their actions and actively contribute to environmental protection, ultimately bringing positive changes to their local and global communities.
