Objectives

We, the young people of Poland, Lithuania, Slovakia, and Hungary, recognized the urgent need for a better understanding of democracy – the system that forms the foundation of our societies. Concepts such as parliamentary, local, presidential, European Parliament, and local elections often caused us confusion. We wanted to explore the idea of democracy, learn its meaning for us, and understand how to actively participate in democratic life. We draw attention to the low level of engagement of young people and adults in our countries and across Europe, which is manifested in low voter turnout. We believe that by deepening our knowledge of democracy and its values, we can inspire others to actively participate in building strong and just societies. That is why we wanted to implement this project, which aimed to: - Familiarize us with the concepts related to elections: parliamentary, local, presidential, European Parliament, and local elections. - Explain the idea of democracy: what it is, what it means to us, and how it is important for our societies. - Motivate us to actively participate in democratic life: through education, discussions, and practical activities. - Raise awareness of democratic values: among young people and adults in our countries and across Europe. We believe that this project is a valuable contribution to building a more conscious and engaged civil society.
