The idea for the project was to develop cooperation with a partner from Lithuania, with whom we had previously carried out a project on an environmental themes. The project that we continued together with the Lithuanian partner was a manifestation against the degradation of our environment, enriched this time with a theatrical form of expression. Our authority was Heida Ásgeirsdóttir, known throughout Iceland. She activated the local community living in the south of the island, close to the volcano Katla volcano, against a large corporation that planned to build a power plant in the vicinity of her farm. Heida's stance is proof that each one of us can initiate change, even in spite of the resistance of others, and start to involve our immediate environment in our actions involving our immediate environment. We too, despite our young age, have become involved in activities to environmental protection. This topic was particularly important to us, as our regions are rich in lakes, reservoirs of fresh water, which are becoming increasingly scarce not only globally, but also in our region. In our area, more and more more businesses and large farms that use this water for production and to feed cattle and pigs. Unfortunately, in doing so, they are forgetting about the proper management of the resource that is water. We therefore had a need to influence local entrepreneurs as well as local farmers to educate them about proper management of water resources as well as waste management. Using our interests, artistic talents artistic, e.g. painting and theatrical talents, we have also been able to reach out to some of our friends across the country, Europe and the world, promoting environmentally friendly behaviour through our project. Thanks to a common understanding of the topic (with project partner), we had previously agreed on the main objectives we would achieve with our project. These were: 1. we should start changing our environmental behaviour ourselves, then convince and influence households, peers and the local environment in which we live, 2. encourage the public, especially young people, business people, farmers and local authorities to behave in a Activate society, especially young people, businesses, farmers and local authorities to be environmentally friendly in their daily lives (using simple rules, e.g. which help to reduce unnecessary waste, etc.). 3. educate the wider public with their knowledge and environmental manifestation, pointing out the risks, 4. fight against stereotypes about the climate and the environment, making the public aware of what is true 5. learn about ways to protect the environment in our regions and countries and exchange experiences, 6. to develop our own environmental protection methods and ideas and how to implement them, 7. to consciously engage in social activities to protect the environment and European citizens. 8. to use artistic forms of expression to present the problem of ecology, including theatre as the main means of to communicate our environmental ideas. The intermediate objectives were: 1. to develop linguistic competence (English, Lithuanian, Polish) 2. developing drama and manual skills and techniques (e.g. painting, sewing, pasting, decorating) 3. developing creativity 4. developing mathematical competence 5. to develop organisational and logistical skills through comprehensive organisation of the project 6. to get to know our countries, culture, traditions, to look for similarities and differences.
