Objectives

The primary goal of the project was to emphasize the significance of non-formal education (NFE) methods and the effects of discrimination and stereotypes on individuals and society. By providing participants with skills in logical reasoning, communication, problem-solving, and organization, the project aimed to equip them to tackle serious community issues. Over a nine-month period, the 24 participating youth workers were expected to develop a comprehensive understanding of NFE methods and their role in addressing discrimination, stereotypes, and prejudices. They were to explore and comprehend the meanings, roles, and interactions of formal, non-formal, and informal educational approaches. The specific objectives of our project were as follows: To enhance participants' understanding and awareness of discrimination, prejudice, and stereotypes by providing them with the necessary tools and methodologies to recognize, address, and counteract these issues in their work with young people. -To improve the professional competencies of youth workers by deepening their knowledge and experience of non-formal education (NFE) methods, which are crucial for effectively engaging young people and addressing social inclusion and diversity. -To foster an exchange of good practices among the participating organizations and youth workers, encouraging collaboration and mutual learning that can be applied in their local contexts to better support young people, especially those facing fewer opportunities. -To promote the integration of NFE methods into formal and informal educational settings by demonstrating their effectiveness in addressing complex social issues and supporting the personal and professional growth of young people. -To strengthen the capacity of participating organizations by providing their staff and volunteers with enhanced skills and knowledge, enabling them to more effectively design and implement projects that promote inclusion, diversity, and active citizenship. The project intended to help participants grasp the fundamentals of NFE, experience its methods, and reflect on their impact, particularly in relation to discrimination and stereotypes. This initiative aimed to enhance the professional skills of youth workers by providing them with practical tools, manuals, and educational resources. A crucial component was fostering self-reflection and evaluation, placing young people at the heart of their learning journey through experiential learning. Moreover, the project sought to promote multicultural understanding by encouraging participants to engage with different cultures and learn from one another in a diverse setting. This approach aimed to strengthen the network of European youth NGOs working with NFE. Additionally, the project aspired to raise awareness of societal patterns and beliefs, expanding opportunities through the Erasmus+ programme. The overarching objective was to enhance the quality of teaching, training, and youth work across Europe by integrating non-formal education methods. The project aimed to meet the immediate needs of youth workers, who often find current educational practices insufficient in providing the skills required by the labor market and societal development. By promoting compassion, empathy, tolerance, and acceptance, the project sought to influence participants' attitudes and reveal their hidden talents, enabling them to design or redesign activities to meet their students' needs and desires. Ultimately, the goal was to create a valuable resource for individuals to strengthen their skills, adopt new methods, and become more confident and capable professionals in their youth work. By implementing this project, we aimed to create a positive impact on youth workers and, through them, the young people they serve. Our focus was on empowering youth workers with the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes, tools, and methodologies to effectively address these social challenges and foster more inclusive, tolerant communities. Additionally, we sought to strengthen the integration of non-formal education (NFE) methods into both formal and informal educational settings, as we believe these approaches are crucial for tackling complex social issues and supporting the development of young people. The project successfully achieved its objectives by significantly enhancing the competencies of youth workers in addressing discrimination, stereotypes, and social inclusion through non-formal education methods. Participants gained valuable skills, enabling them to better engage with marginalized youth and foster inclusive environments. The exchange of good practices and the integration of NFE methods into educational settings further strengthened the participating organizations' capacities. This project not only empowered individuals but also laid the groundwork for sustained positive impacts within their communities.
