What challenges are young people facing today? What makes it difficult for them to find their development path and build a stable catalog of values, to which they increasingly respond with either increasing passivity or radicalization of attitudes? What factors influence the crises that increasingly affect young people, including those related to mental health? And how can we effectively support them in these difficulties? These are questions that formed the basis for the organization of the training at the stage of its preparation and which we wanted to answer during the implementation of the project. They resulted from our experiences and observations in working with young people, especially in the face of the growing identity crisis among an increasing number of young people that we noticed and experienced by our young people. For this reason, we saw a growing need to properly prepare people working with youth to respond to these challenges and support young people in their development, including in these moments of crisis. Adolescence is the period when young people confront the world, look for their own path, discover "I" - build awareness of their own identity. This is therefore a particularly difficult time for them, full of searches, frictions and related crises. This is a regularity confirmed by the studies of psychologists, but both our experiences and observations, as well as the studies of specialists, show that the identity crisis is a phenomenon that has been affecting young people more and more in recent years. This applies to both personal and individual identity (related to the sphere of development, choices, shaping one's life path, but also identity in the most personal dimension, such as gender or sexual identity), as well as identity in a collective sense - local and national, but also in in a broader dimension, in an integrating Europe and a globalizing world - European identity and new dimensions of identity on a macro scale. These difficulties have been further deepened by the pandemic, which has shaken existing social relationships, especially among young people. All these processes have led to an intensifying phenomenon of identity crisis among young people, difficulties in understanding themselves, defining their own values and priorities, causing them to close themselves off from the world, and the phenomenon of "ghosting" is increasing among organizations working with youth. These are the challenges that staff and educators working with young people struggle with today. Hence the idea of organizing a training that would equip our staff with competences to cope with these new challenges and allow for the exchange of experiences in this area was born. The main goal of the project was therefore to improve competences in the field of identity work and supporting young people in identity crisis among youth workers from 5 countries in order to effectively support the development and shaping of young people's attitudes in response to contemporary challenges. Specific objectives: - equipping people working with youth with competences enabling effective support for young people in the process of identity building, including young people in crisis, - developing awareness of factors and processes influencing identity issues and becoming sensitive to their complexity, - learning and exchanging good practices in working with youth, - promoting respect for multiculturalism.
