Our main goal during the implementation of the project was to arouse interest in Europe, the culture of European countries and the idea of European integration among carefully selected and substantively prepared young people with fewer opportunities. The project focused on organizing two trips around Europe for a group of 10 eighteen-year-old participants, with the aim of expanding their knowledge about the culture and history of these places. The people we selected had not had the opportunity to travel so far and, as they indicated, this also made them feel worse than their peers. The primary goal was not only to increase interest in European issues among direct beneficiaries, i.e. 10 participants with fewer opportunities, but also their families, friends, local and school environment and people with whom they dealt at all stages of the project implementation and after its completion, and additionally, all indirect recipients of these activities. The project was intended to influence the development of competences necessary for young people with fewer opportunities, in order to balance their life, social and professional opportunities. We also wanted to improve the participants' skills in the area of planning, organization, communication and other key competencies, e.g. improving English, learning other foreign languages such as Italian, French, German, or becoming familiar with and using graphic programs, learning geography, history, speeches. in front of the audience, camera, searching for information. In our activities, we wanted the largest possible group of young people living in Poland to become familiar with the history of Europe, get to know European societies, develop curiosity, the ability to ask questions, and the ability to reflect on the acquired knowledge. Through our activities, we wanted to promote attitudes such as respect, tolerance and dialogue, resulting from the values of the European Union. The "Journey around my Europe" project was a consistent strengthening of the competences of the European Institute Foundation in conducting high-quality educational programs for young people, especially for those with fewer opportunities. The priority of the project was to take into account diversity and open the program to people in difficult economic, social, health and other situations. Our project aimed to create opportunities for current 18-year-olds with fewer opportunities to take part in a European venture, providing them with a positive response to their difficult situation. In this way, we also wanted to embed European values among young people, such as diversity, equality and non-discrimination. The educational program was carefully planned to meet the objectives of the project, particularly by stimulating interest in Europe, the culture of European countries and the idea of European integration through two trips around Europe. The entire project, starting from the application, through recruitment of participants, substantive and cultural preparation, to monitoring the journey and evaluation of acquired competences, was intended to be a coherent initiative supporting young people with fewer opportunities. Our aspiration was for the project to serve as a shared educational journey, so the detailed travel route, places visited and planned interactions with the local community were the result of joint work, primarily of the participants supported by a supervisor and the European Institute Foundation, which provided all assistance in this regard. o contacts, e.g. with representatives of non-governmental organizations and young people from countries visited by participants of the Discover EU project.
