Objectives

With this project, we wanted to raise environmental awareness among students, teachers and parents, especially in the areas of rational water management and natural resource conservation. Our goal was to develop pro-environmental attitudes and promote responsible consumer behaviour. We also sought to strengthen international cooperation between schools and exchange good practices in environmental education. Another important aspect was the creation and implementation of teaching materials that will be used for further environmental education in partner schools and beyond, as the materials developed are available online to everyone. The project also aimed to develop the professional competences of teachers and enabled them to learn about innovative working methods, as well as the possible equipment and teaching aids, which could improve the everyday performance of their schools. We wanted to transform the acquired knowledge and skills into definitive actions in local communities and contribute to long-lasting changes in people’s awareness and behaviour.

Background

The application for the project was motivated by the observed need to raise environmental awareness among teenagers, teachers and local communities, as well as the desire to strengthen international cooperation between schools. Analyses and surveys conducted during the preparatory stage showed that despite the growing presence of environmental issues in school curricula, there are still significant gaps in the practical application of sustainable development principles, especially in everyday life. The project aimed to respond to these needs by creating a space for the exchange of experiences, the development of good practices and the joint search for solutions for water management – an increasingly threatened resource. In addition, the initiative aimed to develop key competences among participants, including language, digital, social and civic skills, through participation in mobilities and local activities. The project also responded to the need to equip teachers with modern tools and methods that they could implement in their schools. The ultimate goal was to bring about a lasting change in attitudes and strengthen the role of schools as institutions promoting environmental responsibility and European values of cooperation.
