Objectives

The main objective of Coworking4Youth was to promote youth employment, entrepreneurship, and social inclusion in rural areas by introducing and adapting the coworking model to youth centers. We aimed to empower young people (18–25) with the skills to transform unused spaces into collaborative work environments and support their personal and professional development.Through this project, we aimed to: Increase awareness and understanding of coworking among rural youth and youth workers, demonstrating its potential as a tool for collaboration, innovation, and local development. Empower young people aged 18–25, particularly those with fewer opportunities, to take an active role in transforming underused public or community spaces into inclusive, youth-driven coworking hubs. Provide youth workers and educators with accessible, high-quality training material to integrate coworking principles into their ongoing non-formal education activities. Foster transnational exchange and peer learning, allowing young participants & youth workers to explore diverse coworking models across Europe and adapt good practices to their own local realities. Create sustainable and transferable resources to support rural innovation & youth entrepreneurship

Background

The Coworking4Youth project was initiated to tackle youth unemployment, brain drain, and limited entrepreneurial opportunities in rural areas. Local surveys showed that most rural youth lacked awareness of coworking spaces and had limited access to career and entrepreneurship guidance. As remote and flexible work models grow, rural youth risk being left behind. This project aimed to introduce the coworking concept as a tool for youth empowerment, skill development, and social inclusion. By equipping young people with entrepreneurial and future-oriented career skills, and by encouraging them to repurpose unused local spaces into collaborative hubs, we addressed both personal and community development needs. The project also supported youth workers with practical tools and materials. Transnational cooperation helped exchange best practices and develop a replicable model adaptable across rural areas in Europe, aligning with the EU’s focus on skills, inclusion, and employability.
