Objectives

The main goal of the project was to support the psychological adaptation of young migrants through a peer-to-peer approach. We aimed to equip youth leaders and youth workers with tools and methods to work more effectively with migrant youth and to create an inclusive environment in local communities. Our specific objectives were: To develop a practical and replicable model of psychological adaptation for young migrants. To train youth leaders in peer-to-peer methods and support them in leading local activities. To build mentoring skills among youth workers and educators. To test the model through local educational, sport, and cultural activities. To gather and exchange good practices from different countries and share them with a wider audience. By achieving these objectives, we contributed to building more inclusive communities and improving the well-being and integration of young migrants across Europe.

Background

We applied for this project to address the growing need for effective psychological adaptation support for young migrants, particularly those displaced by the war in Ukraine. Our organization has worked with young migrants locally and saw a lack of clear, accessible tools to support their emotional and social integration. Key needs we identified: The absence of a structured model for psychological adaptation based on the peer-to-peer principle. A lack of competencies and tools among youth leaders and youth workers to support migrant youth. The need to share and develop good practices across different European contexts. The importance of involving local communities in inclusive, supportive environments for migrants. This project gave us the opportunity to co-create a practical model with partners, strengthen local support networks, and improve the inclusion of young migrants through education, art, and sport.
