European identity and valuesBridging intercultural, intergenerational and social divideCultural heritage

Objectives

The main objectives we aimed to achieve by implementing this project were to increase cultural heritage awareness among young people, enhance their social and cultural integration skills, and help them embrace the shared values of Europe. Firstly, we sought to enable young people to recognize and respect Europe’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage, encouraging them to contribute to the preservation of this rich legacy. By fostering intercultural dialogue and cooperation among youth from different countries, we aimed to increase their tolerance for one another and help them understand that social differences are not barriers but a source of enrichment. Additionally, we aimed to provide equal opportunities to socio-economically disadvantaged young people, allowing them to develop within an European identity and form strong social connections. Through this, we intended to boost their self-confidence, encourage their participation in social life, and enable them to contribute actively to society as empowered individuals. The project aimed to enhance young people's digital skills by using Web 2.0 tools, digital heritage platforms, and online meetings, helping them gain both cultural and digital competencies.

Background

The main reason we applied for this project was to address the lack of cultural heritage awareness among young people and make them more sensitive to this issue. Although the Alpha and Z generations have quick access to information in the digital world, they did not have sufficient awareness regarding the preservation of cultural heritage. With this project, we enabled young people to experience cultural heritage in a tangible way and raised their awareness. At the same time, we brought together young people from different cultures, facilitating information exchange, and contributed to the creation of a common European identity. During this process, we ensured that young people learned the fundamental values of the European Union, such as democracy, solidarity, and cultural diversity, and strengthened their own identities. Additionally, we helped them overcome social and cultural divisions and view cultural diversity as a richness. Lastly, we promoted young people's participation in democratic life, encouraging them to become active contributors to society and supporting their personal development.
