The main objective of the project was to enhance ecological competences of adults and increase their engagement in activities related to environmental protection and natural heritage. We aimed to strengthen the role of local leaders as multipliers of knowledge, develop practical educational materials, and create an action-based adult education model. The project also sought to promote sustainable lifestyles, responsible use of natural resources, and a stronger sense of agency among participants. Our intention was to guide participants from learning and reflection to real local initiatives, while fostering active citizenship and international cooperation.
We applied for this project because we identified a growing need to strengthen ecological competences among adults living in rural and peripheral areas. This group often has limited access to non-formal education, while at the same time playing a key role in shaping environmental attitudes at the local level. We also observed the need to connect ecological education with local natural heritage and community activation. The project addressed challenges related to climate change, low civic engagement, and the insufficient use of local natural resources as educational and developmental tools. It responded to the need for inclusive, practical adult education that empowers communities to act sustainably.
