The main objective of the Green-On project was to help organisations better recognise their own strengths and development potential and use them to support eco-innovation. The partnership wanted to support companies of all sizes and sectors in becoming more environmentally responsible and future-oriented by helping them identify opportunities for sustainable change in their structures, processes and people. The second objective was to support a change in mindset and organisational culture by developing green and transversal skills, such as eco-innovation thinking, motivation, leadership and change-management, based on eco-psychology and human-centred approaches. The project aimed to show that sustainability is not only a technical or legal issue, but also a matter of attitudes, behaviours and everyday practices. Overall, the objectives focused on helping organisations integrate sustainability into daily work, decision-making and cooperation, while building long-term capacity for innovation, resilience and continuous improvement in line with European priorities on climate action and sustainable development.
The project started because many SMEs and VET organisations felt strong pressure to become more sustainable, but did not have simple and practical tools to turn these goals into everyday practice. They often had access to information about sustainability, but lacked clear methods to connect strategy with daily work, staff involvement and real change inside the organisation. This need was confirmed through cooperation with stakeholders and during testing, which showed that companies want solutions they can use on their own, without external consultants. Green-On therefore aimed to help organisations understand their current situation, set realistic improvement goals and include sustainability in routines, communication and decision-making. The project also addressed personal habits and attitudes, recognising that individual behaviour strongly influences how organisations work in practice. In this way, Green-On supported environmental and climate objectives and contributed to innovation in VET by providing practical learning tools for long-term green transition.
