Objectives

This project was implemented with the central objective of providing as many teaching, technical, and administrative staff as possible with opportunities for international mobility, whether through teaching, training, or job shadowing. The aim was not only to promote the acquisition of new professional and intercultural skills, but also to deepen knowledge about the practices and working methods of other European Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). At the same time, the project aimed to strengthen and diversify existing institutional partnerships, transforming mobility-focused relationships into broader cooperation networks open to joint research, scientific publications, the organization of international events, and the development of innovative academic projects (such as double degrees, BIP (Blended Intensive Programs), and COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning). Another objective was to integrate new pedagogical perspectives and content into the teaching programs, encouraging the adoption of innovative teaching methodologies, digitalization practices, and curricular enrichment. These experiences also proved fundamental for promoting and dynamizing the Polytechnic of Leiria's own international initiatives, such as International Staff Weeks and themed weeks, which have become privileged spaces for sharing best practices and strengthening networking, particularly within the RUN-EU (Regional University Network – European University) alliance. From a strategic perspective, the aim was to optimize mobility resources in line with the objectives of the Erasmus+ Program, ensuring equal access to short-term mobility and increasing the visibility of blended programs. This commitment strengthened the international positioning of the Polytechnic of Leiria, promoting cooperation, innovation, and the European affirmation of the institution and its partners. Given the current international scenario, marked by geopolitical uncertainties, humanitarian crises, climate challenges, and rapid digital transformation, this project takes on added relevance. By promoting mobility, academic cooperation, and intercultural exchange, Erasmus+ contributes to strengthening the resilience of institutions and individuals, fosters dialogue and mutual understanding, and strengthens Europe's commitment to the values of peace, inclusion, solidarity, and sustainable innovation. In this context, this project by the Polytechnic of Leiria emerges not only as an instrument of academic internationalization, but also as a strategic response to contemporary challenges, preparing teachers, technicians, and students to operate in a more collaborative, conscious, and interconnected European and global space.
