Objectives

The main objective of this project was to strengthen the internationalization of Universidade Portucalense, by promoting the mobility of students, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff, in order to foster knowledge sharing, skills development, and academic cooperation with European and international higher education institutions. Its goals were to: Expand learning and training opportunities – enabling students to acquire academic, linguistic, and intercultural skills that enhance their employability and ability to engage in global contexts. Enhance staff qualifications – through teaching and training experiences that reinforce pedagogical innovation, the transfer of good practices, and the creation of scientific cooperation networks. Promote inclusion and sustainability – ensuring the participation of students with fewer opportunities, encouraging sustainable mobility, and integrating digital and blended components that support the green and digital transition. Consolidate strategic partnerships – strengthening the European cooperation network and fostering joint projects that increase the institution’s research, innovation, and internationalization capacity. Through this initiative, the University sought not only to meet the goals of the Erasmus+ Programme but also to align itself with its Strategic Plan 2030, reinforcing its mission as an inclusive, socially responsible, and globally connected university. With the implementation of this individual mobility project, UPT aimed to achieve several objectives aligned with its strategic priorities, namely the internationalization of education, the improvement of teaching quality, and the promotion of employability. Through student and staff mobilities, UPT expanded its international partnerships, reinforcing its global competitiveness. The project is grounded in the promotion of intercultural understanding and European identity, contributing to social cohesion and integration—essential elements for building a sustainable future. Regarding specific objectives, for student mobilities the priority was to ensure equity and inclusion, by providing opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds and with fewer opportunities. In the field of staff mobility, the main goal was to strengthen institutional capacity by improving management systems and supporting mobility programmes. Additionally, the project aimed to enhance the professional preparation of students and staff, particularly with regard to promoting sustainability, in line with the global sustainable development goals.
