The Erasmuscentro Consortium, founded in 2011/12, is currently composed of eight polytechnic institutes: Coimbra, Guarda, Viseu, Castelo Branco, Santarém, Tomar, Portalegre and Leiria. The creation of this project had as its main objectives: to turn lifelong learning and mobility into concrete realities; to improve the quality and effectiveness of education and training; to promote equality, social cohesion and active citizenship; and to encourage creativity and innovation, including an entrepreneurial spirit. The polytechnic institutes that make up the consortium assumed, as a common purpose, the increase of student mobility, both for study and traineeship purposes, as well as the mobility of teaching and non-teaching staff. Another objective of this project is to achieve the full satisfaction of students and staff, by expanding opportunities for personal and academic/professional enrichment through mobility experiences, fostering the creation of networks that promote closer connections and the sharing of knowledge, as well as social and cultural experiences, thereby contributing to the strengthening of European citizenship. In addition, the consortium seeks to increase the visibility of the polytechnic institutes within the European Higher Education network, establish new agreements and deepen cooperation through new applications for KA2 projects. The central aim of the implementation of this Erasmus+ KA131-HED project was to strengthen the internationalisation and modernisation of the participating institutions, in line with the strategic priorities of higher education at the European level. It aimed to achieve a significant impact across multiple dimensions, namely academic, institutional, social and cultural. Thus, in strategic terms, the main objectives were: Develop academic and professional skills — to provide students and staff with high-quality international experiences that foster the development of intercultural, digital and transversal competences, enhancing employability and contributing to academic excellence. Promote inclusion and equal opportunities — to ensure that mobility is accessible to all, including people with fewer opportunities, promoting diversity and reinforcing equitable access to mobility opportunities. Strengthen international cooperation — to consolidate and expand networks and strategic partnerships with international institutions and organisations, reinforcing European and global cooperation capacity. Promote European values and active citizenship — to integrate the dimension of European values, democracy, sustainability and intercultural dialogue into mobility experiences, reinforcing participants’ civic awareness. Enhance mobility management — to develop structured processes, digital tools and monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, increasing efficiency, transparency and sustainability of mobility within the consortium. Contribute to the Green and Digital Transition — to promote sustainable mobility practices and the use of innovative digital solutions, in line with the political priorities of the European Union. These objectives reflect the strategic vision of the consortium and its participating institutions, which regard Erasmus+ mobility as a driver of institutional modernisation, strengthening of academic quality and the promotion of an inclusive, innovative and internationally competitive higher education system.
