Objectives

To foster the empowerment of the most vulnerable women in the local community through the implementation of a personal and social empowerment program. Specific objectives addressed: To empower participants with useful tools and skills for future employability; To foster the personal and social potential of the participants; To reinforce the participants' self-esteem and self-confidence; To promote gender equality; To reinforce the European identity

Background

We applied for this project because we identified the ongoing impact of gender stereotypes and their intersection with other forms of discrimination as a major barrier for socially vulnerable women. Despite improvements in education, inequalities persisted in employment, pay, care responsibilities, and decision-making. Women who were immigrants, economically disadvantaged, living in rural or peripheral areas, victims of domestic violence, or socially isolated faced multiple challenges. This project addressed the need to empower these women by increasing their access to knowledge, rights, and active citizenship. It aimed to strengthen their capacity to take control of their lives, define their needs, and influence their communities. Through a participatory and empowering approach, and in collaboration with local and transnational partners, we worked to reduce social exclusion and promote gender equality by equipping both women and partner organizations with the tools to address gender-based violence and discrimination.
