Objectives

With the implementation of the project, we aimed to analyse the main factors associated with environmental abuses and develop practical solutions to minimise them, promoting more sustainable community participation. The central objective was to empower citizens from different generations to become Environment Ambassadors, providing them with knowledge, green skills, and educational tools that would enable them to take an active role in their local communities. The project also sought to foster intergenerational cooperation, encourage environmental volunteering, strengthen awareness of climate change, and promote social inclusion—particularly the integration of Ukrainian refugees through environmental activities with community impact. At the same time, it aimed to strengthen transnational cooperation among partner organisations, promoting the exchange of good practices and the creation of sustainable and replicable results at local and European levels.

Background

We applied for this project to respond to the need to increase environmental awareness and active citizen engagement in local communities, while promoting intergenerational cooperation and social inclusion. We identified gaps in civic participation in environmental initiatives, in the development of green skills, and in the availability of practical learning spaces that bring together young people, adults and seniors. The project also addressed the need to support the social integration of Ukrainian refugees through meaningful community-based environmental activities. For the partner organisations, the project represented an opportunity to strengthen European cooperation, exchange good practices and develop innovative approaches in adult education and environmental education.Overall, the project aimed to create a group of Environmental Ambassadors equipped to act locally, fostering positive behavioural change and generating environmental and social impact in their communities.
