Background

The UN Framework for the Immediate Socio-Economic Response to COVID 19 (2020) crisis warns that “the pandemic is far more than a health crisis: it is affecting societies and economies at their core. While the impact of the pandemic will vary from country to country, it will most likely increase poverty and inequalities at a global scale, making achievement of SDGs even more urgent”. The pandemic crisis was followed by the crisis caused by the war in Ukraine and a new economic crisis. Meanwhile, the climate threat has become more evident and pressing. Insecurity and fear have increased among European citizens, with more serious effects on the most unprotected people and with fewer opportunities. The Plus Photo project is a non-formal educational response to this disturbing situation. Through the practice of digital photography, people develop their ability to react to the crisis and adapt to new societal realities and become co-builders of inclusive and supportive European communities.
