The main objective of the project was to raise awareness about the importance of inclusion. We aimed to offer participants meaningful opportunities to acquire knowledge, develop attitudes and build competences that would enable them to actively combat discrimination and inequality. This learning process was intended to promote lasting changes in behaviour and mindset, encouraging participants to adopt inclusive practices in their daily lives. They came to understand that every individual deserved to be valued, respected and supported. Only through active citizenship could we foster the values, attitudes, commitment and skills necessary for each person to realise their full potential and contribute positively to society.
All partner schools recognised the increasing importance of inclusive education. There was a clear need to address the exclusion of students based on differences such as disability, race, language, religion, gender, or socioeconomic background. Our aim was to respond to this reality by fostering inclusive practices in our schools and communities. Inclusive education provided all students with the opportunity to develop the attitudes, values, and skills required to live and work in a diverse society. It also promoted more effective and equitable learning experiences for all. We strongly believed that inclusion was a lifelong learning process, benefitting individuals and societies alike, and grounded on the principles of respect, relationships, and responsibility – the three R’s of inclusion. Through the planned activities, students acquired knowledge and skills on inclusion and diversity; developed empathy, self-confidence, and self-esteem; and improved key competences such as intercultural understanding, digital literacy, language and communication, teamwork, and decision-making. We were convinced that inclusion could only be fully achieved through cooperation and the active participation of all.
