The primary objective of the project was to promote innovation in vocational education and training by enhancing the social skills of teachers. Recognising that teachers play a pivotal role in shaping learning environments, the project aimed to equip them with key competencies - such as communication, emotional intelligence, collaboration, and adaptability - that are essential for responding to the evolving needs of students, particularly those from Generation Z. By assessing and developing these skills, the project sought to improve teacher effectiveness, foster inclusive and engaging classrooms, and support the creation of innovative teaching practices. Ultimately, the goal was to contribute to better student outcomes, a more dynamic school climate, and a culture of continuous professional development grounded in evidence-based approaches.
This application was driven by a shared recognition among partners of the critical importance of social skills in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of vocational education and training. The project responds to the evolving educational landscape, where the characteristics of Generation Z demand that teachers possess a specific set of competencies to foster student motivation, engagement, and willingness to learn. This new reality requires educators to be present in the classroom, inspire and connect with students in meaningful ways actively. The project’ scope is to begin developing these essential social competencies among teachers - particularly those working with Generation Z - while encouraging a more profound commitment to motivating students to learn. By focusing on the assessment and enhancement of skills such as communication, emotional intelligence, critical thinking, collaboration, leadership, and cultural competence, the initiative aims to promote inclusive, adaptive, and innovative teaching practices. These efforts aim to enhance student outcomes, foster a positive school climate, and facilitate evidence-based professional development, ultimately contributing to a more engaged and democratic society.
