This project, developed under the H2O accreditation and implemented throughout 2024, was designed to reinforce the organisation’s educational, social, and environmental mission, promoting opportunities for intercultural learning, professional development, and European cooperation. The implementation of the four activities — two training courses (EcoYouth and Youth-Powered Transformation), a youth exchange (Connecting European Youth Through Sports), and a preparatory visit (APV) — had as its central goal the holistic development of young people and youth workers through non-formal education, sustainability, sports, and active participation in European society. Overall Objective To promote non-formal education, environmental sustainability, sports, and European citizenship as tools for social inclusion and youth development, while strengthening H2O’s organisational capacity and the impact of its actions in rural areas. The project aimed to create an intercultural and cooperative learning environment where young people, leaders, and youth workers could share experiences, develop competences, and generate a positive impact in their communities, thus reinforcing a sense of belonging to Europe and to the values of the Erasmus+ programme. Specific Objectives Fostering European Citizenship and Intercultural Understanding through Sport Through the youth exchange “Connecting European Youth Through Sports”, the project sought to bring together young people from different European countries through sports, cultural, and social activities that encouraged dialogue, empathy, and respect for diversity. Sport was used as an educational and social tool, stimulating cooperation, solidarity, teamwork, and cultural cohesion. The activities included tournaments, cooperative games, team-building exercises, and debates on sports values, inclusion, and European citizenship, promoting a spirit of mutual respect and fair play. The project demonstrated that sport can be a powerful means of intercultural learning, social peacebuilding, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles, reinforcing awareness of physical and mental balance as an integral part of youth education. The preparatory visit (APV), held prior to the exchange, ensured pedagogical alignment among partner organisations and proper activity planning, guaranteeing quality, safety, and methodological coherence. Promoting Environmental Sustainability and Green Development The training course “EcoYouth: Crafting Sustainable Youth Work” focused on the ecological transition and environmental responsibility in youth work. The main goal was to equip youth workers and leaders with sustainable tools and methods, reducing plastic use, adopting eco-friendly practices, and integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their local youth work. Through workshops, debates, and experiential learning, participants learned to design and implement environmentally responsible youth strategies, becoming multipliers of ecological best practices in their communities and organisations. Strengthening the Professional Skills of Youth Workers The course “Youth-Powered Transformation: Unleashing Learning Potential” aimed to enhance the competences of youth professionals, especially those working with young people in NEET situations (Not in Education, Employment, or Training). The project introduced self-directed and social learning methodologies, inspired by models such as Maslow, Grow, and Emerald, fostering autonomy, self-efficacy, and motivation. Participants were trained to act as mentors, tutors, and volunteer coordinators, improving their skills in management, communication, and educational support. The intention was to create a multiplier effect, preparing youth workers to apply their new knowledge to local and European initiatives, thus amplifying the long-term impact of Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps. Strengthening Cooperation, Inclusion, and Networking A key pillar of the project was the consolidation of H2O’s European partnership network, aiming to develop future collaborations within Erasmus+ and ESC frameworks. Across all four activities, H2O promoted the exchange of good practices, synergy creation, and the definition of shared methodologies, reinforcing its role as a coordinating organisation for international mobilities. Special attention was given to the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities, ensuring logistical, linguistic, and pedagogical support, and guaranteeing equal conditions for participation and learning. Expected Results Through the implementation of these four activities, H2O aimed to: • Strengthen the personal, social, and professional competences of young people and youth workers; • Promote sport, health, and environmental awareness in the youth sector; • Stimulate European cooperation and the sense of belonging to the EU; • Increase youth employability and civic engagement; • Reinforce H2O’s role as a European reference org
