The central theme of our exchange was Sustainable Development, with Democracy as a sub-theme. This choice was based on our conviction that it is urgent to move forward with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and, at the same time, preserve and strengthen democratic values in Europe. The name of the project, as well as the chosen theme, served as a guiding principle for us to continue to warn about the erratic path that global society has been following — a path that could lead to serious environmental and social problems. In this context, we defined the following main objectives: To promote greater environmental awareness among young people; To disseminate and clarify the Sustainable Development Goals; To stimulate reflection on the threats that compromise democratic regimes; To encourage participants to commit to active and participatory citizenship; To value and give visibility to non-formal education as a tool for learning and social transformation. We believe that we have achieved these objectives satisfactorily and that we have contributed, to our extent, to the common good and to the construction of a fairer, more sustainable and democratic future.
