Objectives

Racism, the belief in one race's superiority, persists globally, evident in discrimination and prejudice. The 2020 EU report highlighted racial harassment experiences, while hate incidents reported by 42 states in 2021 underscore the ongoing issue. Media and biased press further fuel discrimination. Partner countries, including Portugal, Turkey, Hungary, Greece, Macedonia, Italy, and Spain, face distinct instances of racism. Despite global efforts, racism, especially among youth, remains a challenge, exacerbated by events like September 11 and economic crises. To combat this, our project aimed to empower young people against xenophobia and violence through team sports, fostering teamwork, communication, and appreciation for diversity. The goal was to contribute to social peace and a more harmonious society by tackling racism at its roots. Our objectives were: ● Decrease prejudices caused by intolerance. ● Enhance in-group communication skills through teamwork. ● Promote understanding and respect for diversity in a tolerant manner ● Educate young people on the causes and consequences of racism. ● Raise awareness on human rights. ● Foster cultural respect through intercultural social activities. ● Collaboratively find solutions to combat racism with youth. ● Increase awareness on media bias in Europe and its impact. ● Educate local communities on preventing racism.
