The project aims to develop a methodology and manual adapted from the “Jovem a Jovem” (Youth to Youth) programme, equipping youth workers with essential tools in empathy and resilience to address the emerging challenges faced by young people in today’s context. We intend to promote the development of personal and interpersonal skills among young people connected to the organisations in the consortium, as well as in partner organisations from different contexts, strengthening their active role in their communities. Furthermore, the project also seeks to raise awareness among the general public about the challenges faced by youth and the possible solutions through empathy, non-formal education, and peer education. With activities such as international mobility, local multiplier events, and the Empathy Summits, we aim to create a lasting impact by fostering structured, tested, and replicable practices that ensure the sustainability and expansion of interventions in vulnerable social contexts.
The application for this project arose from the urgent need to respond to the social transformations and increasing challenges that young people currently face, in a context marked by the consequences of the pandemic, war, and economic and social crises. Many youth organisations lack effective tools to work on empathy and resilience skills, which are essential for fostering young people’s personal and interpersonal development in vulnerable contexts. We also identified the importance of empowering youth workers to act as agents of change, using innovative methodologies adapted to current realities. This project aims to help bridge these gaps by promoting an inclusive and collaborative approach that contributes to strengthening local communities and empowering young people, while ensuring the sustainability and continuity of the practices developed. Thus, we aim to create a lasting impact by developing new resources and fostering cooperation networks between organisations from different countries.
