In the Institutional Development Strategic Plan 2020–2024, UMFST G.E. Palade has set as a key objective the acceleration of the internationalization process, aiming to connect the academic environment of Targu Mures to global trends in higher education and scientific research. The university seeks to operate within an innovative, open, and multicultural framework, where the exchange of ideas, experiences, and best practices is continuously encouraged. The Erasmus+ Programme stands as the fundamental instrument for accessing competitive academic environments with international visibility and impact. For this reason, at UMFST G.E. Palade, the implementation of Erasmus+ KA131 projects is not merely an option, but an essential component of the internationalization process and the strengthening of the university’s academic reputation. The university’s objectives in this regard are both clear and ambitious: increasing the international visibility of the institution; consolidating relationships with traditional partners and establishing new collaborations both in Europe and beyond; encouraging staff and student mobility in order to generate added value through academic exchanges; integrating a stronger international dimension into education and scientific research, with the purpose of enhancing institutional research capacity and boosting the university’s global scientific impact; expanding and diversifying “incoming” mobility opportunities, to attract more international students and faculty members; fostering an academic community adapted to the demands of a multicultural and competitive environment, thus supporting the achievement of the status of a truly international university. Therefore, Erasmus+ should not be regarded solely as a mobility programme, but rather as a genuine bridge towards internationalization. Through it, UMFST G.E. Palade strengthens its visibility within the European academic space, enhances its ability to respond to global challenges, and consolidates its role within a worldwide academic network.
