Objectives

The Romanian-American University (RAU) regards Erasmus+ mobility projects as a cornerstone of its internationalization strategy, with a significant impact on institutional modernization and the strengthening of its global visibility. Through these projects, RAU expands its international academic presence, forges long-term partnerships, and provides students and staff with valuable opportunities for training and professional development in a multicultural environment. The project’s primary objective was to strengthen RAU’s international dimension and global reputation. To this end, the university focused on expanding and diversifying its network of academic partnerships, fostering collaboration through student and staff mobilities. These exchanges contributed to building a modern, open, and globally responsive learning environment. A key priority was supporting RAU students in undertaking study and traineeship experiences abroad. These mobilities enhanced their academic and professional skills while developing essential intercultural competences, preparing them for success in an increasingly globalized labour market. At the same time, staff mobilities generated important benefits, enabling collaboration with international experts, the exchange of best practices, and the modernization of teaching methods, with direct impact on the quality of education. The project also advanced the modernization and internationalization of RAU’s study programs. Partnerships with universities and private sector organizations facilitated curriculum alignment with international standards, increasing the competitiveness of RAU’s academic offer. Initiatives such as the Guest Courses program and RAU International Teaching Week brought international professors and business representatives to campus, enriching students’ learning experiences with global perspectives. The boost of incoming mobilities further strengthened "internationalization at home" process. The presence of exchange students on campus fostered cultural diversity and academic dynamism, offering RAU students the chance to engage daily with peers from different backgrounds and develop intercultural skills vital for international careers. Throughout the project, RAU emphasized high-quality mobility management and full compliance with ECHE principles. All mobilities were implemented according to European standards of academic excellence, equal opportunities, and non-discrimination, ensuring valuable outcomes for all participants. In parallel, RAU promoted research collaborations and other international initiatives, raising the quality of research while reinforcing academic and professional networks across institutions. These partnerships also created new opportunities for students and staff through access to internationally recognized knowledge and research communities. An additional outcome was the development of double degree programs, enhancing the academic experience through an integrated international approach. Such programs provide students with access to broader academic resources, diverse perspectives, and opportunities to build robust international professional networks. Overall, the Erasmus+ project has been instrumental in advancing the modernization and internationalization of education at RAU. By embedding international dimensions into its programs and activities, RAU has diversified its academic offer, strengthened its competitiveness in a global academic environment, and reaffirmed its role as an active contributor to international educational networks, offering students and staff high-quality academic and professional opportunities.
