Objectives

O1: “Education through Information” focused on building media literacy skills among NEETs and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in several South-Eastern Romanian counties. The goal was to promote the responsible use of both traditional and digital media, aiming to counteract the spread of misinformation, discrimination, and hate speech. This objective aligned with the 1st, 4th, 6th, and 11th goals of the EU’s Youth Strategy. It sought to enhance the personal development of these groups by fostering a deeper understanding of disinformation and improving critical thinking skills. Additionally, it aimed to prevent social, racial, and gender-based hate speech and discrimination. The facilitation team brought expertise in political sciences, journalism, international relations, and training. They are also active in the PoliticALL project, which emphasizes “#EducationThroughInformation.” This objective was shaped by the team's experience and insights, particularly those of the project coordinator Adrian Calugaru, who has been involved in media and related fields for 15 years. Their work reflects a passion for the project’s themes, aligning with the Romanian Humanist Association’s principles outlined in the Amsterdam Declaration on Modern Humanism. The objective was achieved through various non-formal activities, such as exploring journalism’s history and future, creating media pieces, role-playing as journalists, conducting on-site investigations in mobility towns, as well as organizing study visits for youth workers and conferences featuring civil society stakeholders. O2: “Raising Awareness, Inclusion, and Active Participation for the Environment” centered on increasing awareness of environmental issues among NEETs and young people from South-Eastern Romanian counties. It also sought to deepen their understanding of environmental impacts both locally and at the EU level, focusing on pollution and environmental degradation. This objective used a mix of art- and sports-based activities alongside environmental initiatives, aiming to engage young people who were initially hesitant to participate in ecological efforts. The approach was informed by feedback gathered through questionnaires distributed to the target group, addressing their educational and social needs. These included learning about recycling and upcycling, reducing littering, and increasing concern for preserving urban green spaces—both among beneficiaries and stakeholders or authorities. To meet this objective and support the 3rd and 10th goals of the EU’s Youth Strategy, activities such as study visits, upcycling and recycling workshops, plogging, and environmentally-focused media literacy sessions were implemented. The objectives were reached through five activities - 3 youth exchanges and 2 training courses. Out of the youth exchanges, two have focused on environmental protection and raising awareness about the impact we have on our planet (A2, A3), and one on media literacy in the digital environment (A4). The training courses have focused on partnership and capacity building for NGOs (A1) and, respectively, best practices and tools exchanges on media literacy between NGOs (A5). The second year of implementation of the accreditation has focused on building upon the practices and results from the first year - thus the objectives have been reached through the improvement of the quality of youth work in the organisation, the implementation of new/improved methods, the further involvement of voluntaries that have firstly been involved in nonformal education during the activities of the first year of accreditation and the establishment of new transnational partnerships.
