The project addresses the needs and common ideas from 4 groups of youth from Romania, Poland, Croatia and N. Rep. of Macedonia in raising awareness regarding to the fast fashion. Clothes shopping used to be an occasional event-something that happened a few times a year when the seasons changed or when outgrew what we had. But about 20 years ago, something changed. Clothes became cheaper, trend cycles sped up, and shopping became a hobby. Enter fast fashion and the global chains that now dominate our high streets and online shopping. Fast fashion can be defined as cheap, trendy clothing that samples ideas from the catwalk or celebrity culture and turns them into garments in high street stores at breakneck speed to meet consumer demand. The idea is to get the newest styles on the market as fast as possible, so shoppers can snap them up while they are still at the height of their popularity and then, sadly, discard them after a few wears. It plays into the idea that outfit repeating is a fashion faux pas and that if you want to stay relevant, you have to sport the latest looks as they happen. It forms a key part of the toxic system of overproduction and consumption that has made fashion one of the world’s largest polluters. Participants will have the chance to be educated and raise awareness in their communities more about the hidden facts that fast fashion brings to the world and environment. They are the ones that can change and help friends to change behaviors, it is similar to a snow ball effect. The project addresses horizontal priorities of the Program: inclusion and diversity, in the mobility we will have youth coming from different parts of Europe, having different socio-economic and cultural status. The environmental sustainability by raising awareness through participants about the importance of acting to reduce or compensate for the environmental footprint. In this mobility we will bring responsible behavior by implementing with an environmental consciousness from green traveling of all of the participants, to using eco-friendly materials, reducing waste and upcycling. Moreover, the digital part will be present by incorporating the use of digital tools in the creation of the videos during the youth exchange and after in the follow up. The youth exchange promotes learning mobility, enhances cooperation and creativity of youth, it gives them the chance to know a new culture, strengthen European identity and active citizenship. The objective of the mobility are: To raise awareness between the youth from partner countries that 10% from the total CO2 comes from the fashion industry and 85% from the textiles end up in the dumps. Create digital content related to the fixing fashion topic. Create a network of youth who will lead to change in their countries. Empowering the youth from partner countries to spread the knowledge related to fast fashion in their communities. Promote Erasmus+ and non formal education.
