Objectives

The main goals achieved were: - We succeeded to increase the level of preparation for the touristic field in the context of green practices of 42 young people coming from 6 European countries During the youth exchange, the participants visited 4 touristic entrepreneurship sites: historical, seasonal, natural and gastronomical. These experiences helped them to learn about tourism in general and sustainable tourism in particular. They got familiar with green practices which can help them to establish future touristic companies which will have a more ecological footprint on the environment. Even if they do not think about becoming touristic entrepreneurs, they could learn practices for a greener lifestyle. Gastro tourism: Dining at Sólyom Major is more than just a meal; it’s an exploration of the region’s rich culinary heritage. The dishes are prepared using time-honored recipes and fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The Sólyom Major provides locally created lavender and herbal items as well. This combination of culinary delights and natural products makes Sólyom Major a highlight for those keen to explore the flavors and traditions of the Szekler region. Nature tourism: At Babusgató, you can get up close with a variety of animals, from familiar farmyard creatures as goats or ducks to more exotic species like ostrich. This hands-on experience is particularly beneficial for children, who might not have many opportunities to interact with animals in their everyday lives. The therapeutic benefits of such interactions are well-documented, making Babusgató an educational and soothing outing. Babusgató offers a peaceful retreat into the natural beauty of the Szekler region, allowing visitors to reconnect with the environment as well as animals, and enjoy the simple pleasures of rural life. Historic tourism: Sighișoara is renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture, cobbled streets, and colorful houses, which transport visitors back in time. Seasonal tourism: Year-Round Escapades at Lobogo Resort - this entrepreneur found the way to attract tourists all year round, despite it was a place where ski was the main touristic activity, therefore it became more efficient regarding its functioning. - We succeeded to create a blog about the environmentally friendly local tourism locations and practices and the ones of the participating countries (5 local articles, 5 country articles, 5 videos) - https://sustainabletourismintheszeklerarea.wordpress.com/ The above mentioned practices were described in the articles written by the participants and the videos created by them for the blog of the project. Reading these articles and seeing these videos, the members of the general public got aware of the importance of implementing greener habits for the benefit of the environment (both if we speak about individuals or entrepreneurs). - We succeeded to increase the knowledge base of the 42 participants about sustainable tourism, sustainable development goals and EU’s Youth Goals, but also to foster their sense of European citizenship - the young people succeeded to better understand what is the role of the European Union and its institutions in the fight against climate change By creating and sharing the materials for the blog, the participants became active, responsible European citizens, who want to make a change in their environment. The project was also an intercultural experience that enabled the participants coming from 6 countries to meet each others' cultures, to discover cultural diversity and thus to become aware of the importance of preserving their cultures for the multiculturality of Europe, but also to become more tolerant.
